weekend updates

Had a good weekend.
Nez was off at Origins, while I was home.

We went to Eminence on Saturday, and picked up some more shineys, a chainmail headband, corset chiller, hair barette (hairsnack!)www.silvermoonbeams.com, a couple masks eysy - mommajouster, bells (silver griffin)and a small drum. Foxwit wanted the drum for his character - it may end up being shared.

We saw Beerslayer in passing twice, and wandered a bit. Now they have coin of the realm for food, which is nonrefundable, but we figured out how to spend it. Love the cheese and fruit plate on such hot days!

Got to hear Tartanic. www.tartanic.net It wasn't what I expected to hear, and I loved it. I wasn't too close to the scottish lap dance or scottish car wash (and would personally do relly bad things to a person who did that to me in public). The latter two were the later pub show - over 21 only. I can see why an enemy would be unnerved by the sound- and there was only 2 bagpipe players, 2 drummers and a nother that changed instruments.

Saw some young Morris dancers as well. Didn't see Kaboom - always was passing mid show. I do like his act though.

The Silver Squirrel people were not there, but will be at the Ohio Faire. I wanted another skirt, sigh. Have to go to another faire somehow...oh the horror :)

after faire, went home and went to see Transformers. It was fluff - just action. The two RC characters annoyed me (not because they were racist, just annoying). I couldn't tell any of the robots apart after awhile, blurry cam... still not as bad as Speed Racer.

Went home, changed to lighter clothes and Ihopped some dinner. I really don't like eating when hot, so ate some crepes and a couple strips of bacon.

Sunday - wnt to Frisbee golf with Chad, Roger, Mark, Foxwit and I. MarkS (Loki) came by that night, but was the only one. We discused gaming and his new Werewolf larp he's creating. I've got my character mostly solidified. ...mostly. I haven't played Black Fury before.

Yule music

It has been suggested by a floofy woofhound that he would like me to sing for Yule. I don't know any traditional Yule songs, just Christmas carols. Also, I don't play an instrument for accompaniment. I know mostly musicals, and some other random melodic stuff.

If someone has the ability to play an instrument who will be at Yule, lets see if I know any songs you can play. I am a bit self conscious about singing, but have been assured those there will not bite....too hard.

Would he lie about that to me? Is this really a trap....

Happy Birthday to [info]darkwolf69! [info]nezmaster and I went to the birthday party at Clifton, for the [info]filkertom concert. I saw [info]dubheach, [info]gypsy1969, [info]sylverwolf, [info]poolsharkone, [info]grindar, and also [info]razzle plus many others whom I cannot recall their livejournal names, as well as several who do not have LJ (at least none I know). I met [info]lothie for the first time in person :)

I ended up buying several cds and have a copy of the concert itself - he recorded it and burned it. It was really good, with lots of songs I didn't know. He played Illuminati Polka, Honeybaked Ham, Rocket Ride, Crystal Gayle killed Frank Herbert, 500 hats and one about a bunny that Nez really liked. Plus many others I hadn't heard (I liked them though) :)

I love music and filking. It was really nice seeing people I hadn't seen for awhile, especially Filkertom. I miss music. I got a ride home from Darkwolf and [info]sydb42. I had a lot of fun :)

edit: Thanks, Gypsy. There was also [info]holmes365, [info]random314, [info]monica52
Trying to find all the LJ's :)

Holmes365 recently posted something thanking her mother for ther artistic background. I realized too, that the arts have been entwined in my past and present too.

I have never seen a live opera, but did occasionally watch them on public television. I have seen ballets/modern dance, musicals such as Godspell (working Lost Colony), Chorus line (Broadway), and Les Miserables (Ky Center). Plus many, many plays.

I also played flute (badly) and sang (even made it to All State). I am a second soprano, though prefer singing first. I have worked in an outdoor drama (Lost Colony) for four summers. I have done set design, lightboard and technician work for theatre (my brother does this for a living).

When in college, I took Orchestral Music appreciation, music theory and university chorale for fun (Chorale 4 semesters). By the way, this horrified several music majors. I sang Handel's Messiah - there is really nothing I can compare that to. Grand Mass in C Minor by Mozart also. We toured two springs also. This is also the place I heard a contralto, in class, sing a cappella "Ave Maria" by Shubert. I believe he could have made angels cry. Absolutely amazing.

I also have been blessed by the arts :)

Hint: there are three artists with two songs each here. And a previously guessed artist is also one of these. Good luck!

1.I can't stand to fly, I'm not that naive. Need to find a way to lie about a home I'll never see.
3. Goodnight my angel, time to close your eyes and save these questions for another day, I think that I know what you've been asking me
6. Sorry I never told you all I wanted to say and now its too late to hold you, you've gone away, so far away. Never had I imagined, living without your smile
7. Who can say where the road goes, where the time flows, only time
8. Havent we been here before? Footsteps lead down to the note on the door, that says I can't stay here anymore? and haven't we felt the same way?
12. Somedays, when I'm far away in a lonely room in a cold seclusion, some nights when I'm wound so tight there is no release, there is no solution
16. I'm fifteen for a moment, caught between ten and twenty and I'm just dreaming, counting the ways tio where you are. I'm 22 for a moment, and she feels better than ever
17. I can't lie, no more of your darkness all your pictures seem to fade to black and white
19. I saw you dancing about the ocean, running fast along the sand a spirit born of earth and water, fire flying from your hair. The instant that you love someone
